Writing a Stage Play for the First Time

This weekend, the 12th of July, I wrote my first stage play for the charity: Kilkenny Acquired Brain Injury Group, during a 24 hour theatre take over challenge at The Watergate Theatre in Kilkenny!

My play 'Blood Sucker Lawyer' was Directed by Jeffrey Gormly performed by amazing talented actors Kyle Frampton, Steven Walsh and Catriona Bambrick.

During my time taking part, i had to write my play from 8pm to 6am with no knowledge of how many actors or their ages and genders i would have until that point!

My prompt given to me for the challenge was "Beneath the Surface" and i had to incorporate a broken clock, an envelope and have a musical element to it!

At around 2am i was done and sent the play off, then all i had to do was wait until 8pm the following day to see my actors and director pull off the whole thing!

It was a fantastic experience, and a wild jump for me into the theatre world for the first time. The whole team were fantastic and brought my vision to life!

I had followed the event the previous year for my documentary "The 24 Hour Theatre Takeover" it was so interesting to see the event as a participant instead of an observer.
